Course Overview
Learn how to make rub over settings and faux claw settings for larger stones.

On this course you will learn how to make a mount and set a round faceted stone. These are a versatile setting that can be used for either a ring or a pendant. You will have the option of creating a full rub over or a faux claw setting.
A faceted stone has a pavilion which helps create the sparkle in the stone. When making settings for faceted stones we have to create a cavity to ensure we accommodate the pavilion. There are a variety of ways to achieve this. On this course you will learn how to make settings for round faceted stones. We use larger stones to ensure students understand the basic principles of creating settings. This also helps when practicing stone setting.
Faceted stones have flat planes cut into the surface known as facets. A well-crafted geometrical arrangement of facets will reflect light both internally and externally, maximising the brilliance and fire of the stone.
This course is suitable for intermediate level students.
