Course Overview
Explore your own ideas and develop design skills on our jewellery evening class.
Students who are comfortable and know their way around a jewellery workshop are free to work on self directed projects. Students should be familiar with designing jewellery and have the required skills to work on their chosen pieces. The class tutor is also available to offer support and guidance if required to help students achieve their goals. This provides an excellent opportunity for students to explore their own ideas while developing design skills. Students are encouraged to discuss their proposed designs and ideas with the class tutor who will suggest various fabrication methods necessary to bring their designs to life. Students are free to work on multiple jewellery projects within a term, project timescales are generally determined by complexity of the piece of jewellery.
This evening class is suitable for experienced makers only. Students should have an intermediate to advanced level of skill and know their way around a jewellery workshop. If you are new to Kingham Jewellery School please make a course enquiry or contact us before booking so we can make sure the course is right for you.
The minimum age for students attending group bookings is school year 11, 15-16 years of age provided they are accompanied by fee paying adults. We do not offer group bookings for under 18’s unless at least 1 fee paying responsible adult attends the class.
Course fees include solder and saw blades. Please feel free to bring your own materials to work with, however metals, findings and a variety of stones are available for purchase at the school.
Students who intend to work in gold should purchase their own gold & gold solder. We do not carry gold at the workshop, however we can order gold in. Contact us in advance of your class if you wish to place an order for gold.
Cost of course materials can vary based on amount required and fluctuations in market prices.
As a general guide, materials for a single day silver course with semi-precious gemstones are usually between £30-£55. Costs of materials for a full term using silver are usually around £50-£80. To minimise costs silver can sometimes be substituted for copper. Copper is currently around 1/10 the cost of silver.
