Course Overview
Learn basic metal working techniques and make a beautiful textured silver bangle.

This taster class introduces beginners to basic traditional silver jewellery making techniques. It’s an ideal class to join if you have little to no jewellery making experience. Our experienced tutor will guide you through the entire process.
You will become familiar with a range of jewellery making tools to create your piece such as a piercing saw and a polishing motor. You will create surface texture using a texturing hammer and learn how to solder using a jewellers torch.
On completion of the class you will have a basic understanding of working with silver and a beautiful sterling silver bangle ready to wear!
We run a very friendly and relaxed workshop at Kingham Jewellery School, all our taster classes offer a gentle learning curve for beginners to start making jewellery and try something new. If you’re completely new to jewellery making, and unsure if a beginner term might be too much of a time investment, a taster class is worth considering.
This class is suitable for all beginners. No previous experience in jewellery making is necessary to enrol on this course.
The minimum age for students attending group bookings is school year 11, 15-16 years of age provided they are accompanied by fee paying adults. We do not offer group bookings for under 18’s unless at least 1 fee paying responsible adult attends the class.
The silver to make a single bangle is included in the cost of this course. If you would like to make more than one piece, time permitting, you may purchase additional materials from the jewellery school on the day of your class.
Cost of course materials can vary based on amount required and fluctuations in market prices.
As a general guide, materials for a single day silver course with semi-precious gemstones are usually between £30-£55. Costs of materials for a full term using silver are usually around £50-£80. To minimise costs silver can sometimes be substituted for copper. Copper is currently around 1/10 the cost of silver.
