Course Overview

Beginner Jewellery Course – 2 Day Silver & Surface Texture

A fun, hands-on 2-day beginner silver and surface texture course covering etching, rolling, hammering, and jewellery making. Go home with a handmade bracelet and pendant.

Class size: Limited to 6 spaces

Our Beginner Jewellery Course – 2 Day Surface Texture is a hands-on silver jewellery course designed for beginners who want to learn the fundamentals of creating surface textures on silver. We explore a variety of techniques such as etching, rolling and hammering. All tools are provided, and no prior experience is needed – just your creativity and curiosity.

On completion of this course you should have a solid foundation in jewellery making techniques and learn how to use all the necessary tools to enable you to create beautiful jewellery pieces from home. Plus, you’ll leave the course with two professionally finished pieces.

Course Schedule

Day 1: Explore etching and rolling techniques to create patterns and textures on silver sheet.

  • Introduction to creating surface texture
  • Learn about the rolling mill
  • Different etching techniques
  • Create the surface for your pendant 
  • Start your bracelet 

Day 2: We move into hammering methods where you’ll shape and texture your own bracelet. Finally, you’ll transform your metal into a unique, handmade silver pendant to take home.

  • Continue with your bracelet 
  • Create a hammered texture on links
  • Create a pendant from etched or rolled metal
  • Guidance on setting up a home jewellery workshop: Learn how to set up a home workshop to suit all types of budget.

Workshop Safety

As a student you are responsible for your own safety in the workshop. The most important things to remember are;

  • Please listen to directions from your tutor to ensure you know how to use all the equipment safely and correctly.
  • Do not operate equipment you do not know how to use.
  • Covered footwear is required and absolutely no high heels.
  • Tie back long hair when using motorised equipment.
  • Please respect others and don’t interrupt students who are soldering, using the drill or any other equipment that could create a safety concern if the operator is distracted.
  • Remember to take all your belongings with you when you leave.
  • Please leave all unnecessary personal items at home.

You will need to bring

  • Your own apron, to protect your clothes.
  • Packed lunches are recommended if your class runs for a full day.

Please do not attend the workshop if

  • You feel unwell.
